Adding some pretty patterned fabric to different household items is one of the easiest ways to give new life to your old or outdated décor. In last week's Crafty Creations, I attached colorful cloth to a basic wooden kitchen stool. It gave my piece of furniture the fresh new twist it needed. For my newest project, I'm going use a similar method to turn a baking sheet into an adorable decorative tray. This pretty piece is perfect for displaying your favorite candles, flowers and books atop a coffee table. Watch the video below to learn how you can give it a go:
To recap, here's what you will need:
- baking sheet
- fabric
- spray glue
- scissors
If you want to try this DIY on a budget, don't fret about spending money on pricey fabric. An old tablecloth, patterned curtains, or even an old dress can be a cool and quirky way to recycle old materials to create something new.
Are you going to give this craft a try?
If you try this DIY, be sure to upload the photos of your decorative trays to the gallery so I can check them out.
Happy crafting ladies!
XO Lauren

I just did this today...found some beautiful fabric for really cheap and got a baking sheet for under a dollar. Love it! One thing I did though was add a piece of felt to cover the back of the tray. It gives it a finished look and protects whatever surface you put it on!

This past summer my family was invited to stay in Kathryn Ireland's beautiful home in the south of France, about north of Toulouse. The book on your display tray, Summers In France reminded me of it and I just wanted to share! Click here to view my album on Facebook!

Right now I'm taking old glass bottles and putting string around them and then I'm going to fill it up with sand and put fake flowers in them. Or I was going to make a picture frame with broken glass and glue it around the frame and make it into a mirror.

Another way to make a fantastic tray is to cover this with wallpaper in one of your favorite patterns! You can often find wallpaper in beautiful colours and prints at the dollar store or your local paint store. It doesn't take a lot and it's a really expensive look!

It'd be cool if you covered it in that kitchen table material, then you could use it as an actual tray and be able to wipe it down :)
