There's a reason that they call it "beauty sleep." Getting 7 to 9 hours of sleep a night can actually improve your appearance. While you're sleeping your body releases human growth hormones. This helps your body create collagen, which gives your skin strength and elasticity. (Fun Fact "kola" means glue in Greek and Collagen actually means "glue producer"). Also, while you are dreaming away, your skin cells are regenerating and all the muscles in your face that create wrinkles begin to relax.
While the recommended hours of sleep you should be getting each night is between 7 and 9, this just simply isn't a reality for some of you busy ladies. So just think of this as a reason to catch up on weekends. According to FITNESS Magazine, when you have been asleep for 5 hours "Your skin's temperature reaches its lowest point and your muscles relax, giving skin its deepest recovery." So hit the snooze button and dream a little longer.

Along with getting 7 to 9 hours of sleep you ladies should really look into MaryKay's Time Wise face wash they have special formalized wash mixed with their day and night cream to use along with it. I use it and after using the night time exfoliating wash I wake up the next morning with AMAZINGLY soft skin!!!!!

This totally works!!! I started sleeping between 7-9 hours a night, and my mom and friends have said totally out of the blue, "you look really pretty today". I also am more calm and definitely have more patience.

I've noticed that during the college semesters I tend to look worse then I do in the summer- just because of stress and lack of sleep from my work load. But in the summer (I'm on break now) when I can catch up on sleep, I look so much better. My breakouts clear up and the redness under my eyes goes away. I swear sleep cures it all.

I'm pretty sure when I don't get enough sleep regardless of how much I excercised or ate healthy that week I start looking droopy all over. Getting my sleep bank restocked definitely makes me feel and look better.Harvard even supports me!

it's so true.. I notice when I only get a few hours of sleep I look horrible! Getting a good long sleep is so good, you wake up super energized and your face looks so refreshed. It's winter where I am now (uruguay) so sleeping is a main thing now! lol

I've also heard that sleeping promotes hair growth. I don't know if it's actually true but it's another good excuse! ;-)

i like how no matter what time i go to sleep, whether its at 12 or at 4 in the morning im always up at 8 and i have to pretty much force myself to go back to sleep if i have no work that day.

If any of you girls have Iphones (or Itouch or prob works on the droid too...) theres an app called sleep pillow, you can put a timer and they have certain sounds to help you fall asleep. Put on your beauty mask and hit the pillow! I swear its helped me fall asleep faster and stay asleep.
Even when I go to bed at 3 and have to be up at 8 ;)

I always try and get as least 8 hours of sleep. Sometimes it is just not possible but I always feel better when I am able to sleep that long!

i am from greece and i am surprised that you wrote that fun fact ( i already knew it lol) 8 hours are ideal for me !! but when i have school i sleep 6 hours and they are not enough!

That is so true, I need 7 hours sleep but I always have stuffs to do. Thanks for your avice I will have in consideration
