Photo Diary: Guatemala For The Little Market

If you’re following me and @TheLittleMarket on Instagram, then you probably caught a few snaps from my trip to Central America last week. I was in Guatemala for The Little Market, meeting with our artisan partners and discovering new goods to sell in our fair-trade online shop. I tried to take as many photos as I could so that I could share them with all of you when I got back. Check them out below, and enjoy!

My satchel from The Little Market arrived just in time for our Guatemala adventure. It’s the perfect travel companion…

So I packed my bags and said goodbye to these two…

As soon as we arrived in Guatemala we hit the marketplace. This gorgeous textile caught my eye…

Decisions, decisions…

And I couldn’t resist these tiny jewelry bags… Too cute.

Another day, another outhouse for Hannah. Hey, when you gotta go, you gotta go… (Thanks to our photographer and friend Yoni for capturing this hilarious moment.)

Photo Diary: Guatemala For The Little Market

We had a weaving demonstration by some of our artisan partners. I have a whole new appreciation for how these fabrics are made…

And I was inspired to give Hannah and myself textile manicures… (Should I share the tutorial in a blog post?)

The next morning we took a boat to a volcano on Lake Atitlan…

And Hannah and I snapped a little selfie…

I made a new little friend while shopping the Chichicastenango Market…

And swapped out my iPhone for Yoni’s camera for a few shots…

But one of my favorite moments had to be sipping on this delicious Guatemalan hot chocolate… yum!

I consider myself very lucky that my job description includes traveling to new countries and exploring cultures other than my own. It is so inspiring to meet the women artisans behind The Little Market products. Hannah and I love seeing all the work that goes into each special item. Stay tuned for some very special Guatemalan goods coming to the shop!

Im from Guatemala and loved when I read that you just went there and get to see all those amazing local fabrics our incredible people make in places like Atitlán and Antigua Guatemala. Here is a website of Antigua were I had written some articles about the different topics like the local customes. Let me know if you need any information about my beautiful country :) i will be more than glad to help you. I will love if you can talk or write about the dedicated and amazing job the guatemalan women do to make the colorful fabrics. We need that people appreciate more their job and for that, we need to show people how hard and with how much love they work. http://aroundantigua.com/antigua/2013/04/12/colorful-local-costumes-in-antigua-guatemala/

I just got back from Guatemala a few days ago and loved Antigua, Tikal, and Lake Atitlan. Made quick stops in Flores and Panajachel as well. I picked up some cute fabric pouches that remind me of the ones you included a picture of above. I hope you had a wonderful time. I thought it was so beautiful!
