Hocus Pocus: Healthy Halloween Treats

Hocus Pocus: Healthy Halloween Treats
Halloween is one of my very favorite holidays. Between costumes, seasonal crafts, and candy, what’s not to love? I like to celebrate all month long, but by the end of October I usually feel like I’ve had more than my fill of sweets. While I certainly won’t turn down a sweet treat or two, it’s nice to have a healthy alternative to all the candy this time of year. These Halloween treats I’m sharing today are made with fresh fruit, so you can still feel festive without all the sugar. They’re a great healthy option to serve up at a Halloween party, or you can bring them to work or your internship to share with your officemates. I can guarantee they’ll be a huge hit.

Check out these healthy Halloween recipes below…

Banana Graveyard Ghosts

Hocus Pocus: Healthy Halloween Treats
Here’s what you will need:

  • Bananas
  • Black decorating icing
  • Peanut butter
  • Chocolate cookies

Instructions:
For the Banana Graveyard Ghosts, I simply cut three bananas in half, and then gave the ghosts spooky eyes and a mouth using a tube of cake decorating icing. I placed a dollop of peanut butter at the bottom of each banana to help keep it in place on the plate. To make the graveyard dirt, serve your ghosts on a bed of chocolate cookie crumbles.

Cute Clementine Pumpkins

Hocus Pocus: Healthy Halloween Treats
Here’s what you will need:

  • Clementines
  • Green pipe cleaners

Instructions:
Making these Cute Clementine Pumpkins could not be easier. First, make sure you are using clementines or another variety of citrus that is shaped like a pumpkin (oranges are too round). Then, peel the fruit, trim a green pipe cleaner down to the appropriate “ pumpkin stem size,” and place it inside the top of your clementine.

I hope that these healthy treats are a hit at your next Halloween party or celebration. They were certainly very popular at the LC.com offices!

Are you going to give them a try?

Let me know in the comments if you have any fun Halloween ideas of your own.

I just pinned both of these recipes yesterday :) We’re on the same wavelength Lauren! You could also use a small slice of green celery instead of the pipe cleaner, for a little crunch.

These are adorable! I especially love the “”pumpkins””, which look super easy to make, since they only have one ingredient! I’m very into eating healthy these days, but love themed, artistic food, so this is perrrfect!

    Healthy? How are cookies healthy?

  • Jennifer S

While it makes it less healthy, I like to use green sour patch kids for the clementine pumpkin stems so that it’s fully edible. Celery stick that dmarie44 suggested is great healthy alternative too. http://www.pinterest.com/pin/169448004703641919/

For a cool Halloween treat you can try and make Mummy dogs! I make them every Halloween! All you need is hot dogs, cheese, and any kind of dough. You can bake them in the oven and you can use ketchup or mustard to make a face! It’s not that health but it’s a cute meal. Here is the link!
