Shape Up: My Bikini Boot Camp Plan


It’s May ladies. And this can only mean one thing: Bikini season is upon us. Yikes! If you’re like me, you are probably thinking that you could use a little toning before slipping into that two-piece over Memorial Day weekend. Or perhaps you’re a procrastinator and keep telling yourself that you will work out…tomorrow. No matter your attitude toward fitness, it’s safe to say that we should all aim to be the best versions of our selves: Fit, healthy, and fabulous. That’s why I am sharing my Bikini Boot Camp Plan with you guys…

When bikini season is on the line, fasts and fad diets may be tempting. But don’t fall victim! Instead, dedicate yourself to a healthy lifestyle. That’s how you will get the best results. The cherry on top? Your results will actually last! I enlisted my trainer, Jarett Del Bene, to share the best exercises to get your body fit and toned for that two-piece and have put together my favorite healthy meals too. My Bikini Boot Camp Plan is similar to my 7 Days to Skinny Jeans one so hopefully this will get you back on track if you’ve strayed since earlier this year. Remember, stay focused on eating healthy and dedicate yourself to exercising regularly. So here’s the deal…

My Bikini Boot Camp Plan:

The Rules

  • This is a lifestyle change, so do not think of it as a diet. Try to stick with this as long as you can!
  • Don’t lose sight of your goals. You can do this!
  • Drink lots and lots of water. {Jarett’s Tip: “Drink one ounce of water for every pound you weigh per day. For example, if you weigh 120 pounds, drink 120 ounces of water throughout the day.”}
  • As soon as you wake up, have one cup of lemon water. Make sure you drink it at least 30 minutes before you eat.
  • Pick one exercise to do every day (save one day for rest). Need a little inspo? Listen to my workout mix! {Jarett’s Tip: Have a power snack before your workout such as sliced apples dipped in some all-natural peanut butter.”}
  • Do all of the exercises listed under “Everyday Exercises” each day in addition to your selected workout.
  • Pick one meal from each category for each day.
  • Pick one snack for each day.

The Off-Limits List

  • No candy, baked goods, or ice cream. Ideally, no sugar!
  • No soda or flavored drinks.
  • No white bread or rice.
  • No eating 2-3 hours before bed.

Breakfast Options

  • Any of the breakfast options from my 7 Days to Skinny Jeans Plan
  • 1 slice of whole grain toast with one scrambled egg and half of a grapefruit
  • Banana Oatmeal Smoothie: Blend together one banana, 1 cup ice, ¼ cup cooked oatmeal, 1 tablespoon chopped almonds, ½ cup milk of your choice (I prefer almond milk), pinch of cinnamon
  • Low-fat yogurt with 1 sliced banana, ½ cup of fresh berries, and a drizzle of agave nectar
  • Egg whites served with a slice of toast with ¼ of an avocado mashed on top with chili flakes or a pinch of garlic salt

Lunch & Dinner Options


Exercise Options

  • Run for 45 minutes
  • Alternate sprinting and walking for 60-90 seconds for 30 minutes
  • 1 hour of yoga, kickboxing or Pilates
  • 45 minutes of spin
  • Circuit: 10 pushups, 30 lunges, 30 bicycle crunches, jumping jacks for 60 seconds, plank for 60 seconds (repeat 2x)
  • 20 minutes of cardio of your choice (Make sure you break a sweat!)
  • 2 sets of my arm workout + 30 squats, 30 lunges, 30 leg lifts for each leg
  • Any of the exercise options from my 7 Days to Skinny Jeans Plan

Everyday Exercises

  • 50 crunches in the morning, 50 crunches at night
  • 60 second plank in the morning, 60 second plank at night {Jarett’s Tip: “Make sure your core is engaged by sucking in your belly button towards your spine.”}

If you follow this plan strictly for the next few weeks, you will be in great shape by Memorial Day weekend. Just remember to keep your eyes on the prize and to focus on your goals: Getting toned, healthy and fit! Most importantly, listen to your body, drink lots of water, get at least eight hours of sleep every night, and stick to your workout plan!

Over the next few weeks, I will be checking in with you to see how you are doing. I will also be sharing exclusive exercise tips from my trainer, Jarett, along with more flat-belly friendly foods. Get excited! Get motived. And get ready to confidently slip into your favorite summertime swimwear!

    @Raquel, a plank is when you stretch your body out, supported only by your toes and forearms. Start by laying on your belly, with your arms bent, fists clench beneath your chest. Raise your body off the floor and get your back as straight as possible. Keep your belly tight and hold for 60 seconds (or as long as you can.. It’s kinda hard).

    PS-I am surprised that you didn’t include anything about limiting alcohol consumption, which can be a limiting factor in several of these goals (getting plenty of rest at night, avoiding unnecessary calories, staying hydrated, etc.)

    Ahh Lauren this is such an encouragement to read right now. I am about to turn the big 25 and I am wanting to lose the weight I have always talked about losing! I have always been way to lazy to actually put the effort into it, but this is so motivating. I guess I just sometimes get it into my head that you celebrities eat whatever you want and don’t need to work out, when really you work your butts off!     Thanks for posting, I really am going to try to do this. I had a son 3 years ago and just can’t either stay motivated enough or stick with a plan long enough to get back to the weight I used to be before him. I have tried Jillian and weight watchers and it’s usually when it’s time to renew I don’t have the funds on hand and I loose interest and then I start to downfall again.     OMG Lauren. it’s like you were reading my mind!! I have moved to Canada then the US 3 years ago. since then, i have gained 20 pounds. Last weekend i just couldn’t handle the way i look anymore, i loose 4-6 pounds every few months then gain them back few months later. NOW, 3 days ago,i started on a strickt diet, will try to excersize everyday. I am having a horrible headache today but i will stick to my plan and yours for one whole month. Once i get to my original weight, i’ll change my lifestyle.

    Today, i had half a fiber bar for breakfast and a non-fat latte, 1/2 Chipotle chicken bowl for luch, 1/2 a banana and 1 tbs hummus with cucumber as a snak, for dinner i’ll probably eat a bowl of cereal.

    I don’t really have a plan to follow. just basically staying away from fat, sugar and bread.

    I do one called the Ashy Bines Bikini Body Challenge and Clean Eating Plan in Australia.

    Ashy Bines is located in the Gold Coast in Australia. You can purchase her clean eating plan from anywhere in the world but her 12 week Bikini Body Challenge she only has on the Gold Coast as she personally trains the girls.

    This too is a lifestyle change and it works miracles. I have never felt better in my life. It helped me to quit smoking and not drink quite as much.

    Anyone who is interested in having a Bikini ready body for Summer take Lauren’s advice! Do NOT do a fad diet. You need to change your lifestyle.

    Remember the first 15 days of no sugar or carbs (basically the detox period) is really hard, you might feel sick and tired but stick to it you will pull through. After 21 – 30 days you won’t even crave sugar or carbs anymore.

    Do this for life and you will love yourself for life!

I work 14 hour days in the oil and gas industry in Western Australia and the long days make it hard to find time.     I have just done this diet for 1 week, I had to replace some things with the UK equivilent but I lost a total of 4 pounds in 1 week!

    And I gave myself 1 day off (although I was still pretty good) on the Saturday, had a Pizza Hut Pizzetta, an icecream and some sweets!!

    Also I havent really had time to do the exercises so this weight loss has happened with that too!

    Very impressed!! :)

    I started the plan on August 3rd thinking that I really wanted to drop about 30 pounds by Christmas (and prior to going wedding dress shopping). So far I have dropped 9 pounds in just over two weeks. Thanks for the motivation to get started and I know I will be able to stick with it and finally feel great when I’m trying on dresses!!

    Day 10, I had a few days of slipping up and not being as good (although not AS bad as usual, Gin & Tonic instead of bubbles kinda thing). I have however got back on the wagon and ‘the bloat’ appears to be less than usual. My aim isn’t to loose weight but to feel better in myself and clothes…. I’m getting there.

    Thank you for such a great health and fitness plan. Doing it the healthy way is the only way to do it. Otherwise you just have no energy to live life to it’s fullest and the weight and low self esteem just come right back. I have been following the plan and have lost the 20 pounds I needed to lose. Great boot camp I will stick to the healthy way and keep the weight off. I have found out as well having a little treat on special occasions does not make you gain weight back Just do cardio for a little longer to burn off extra calories. Thanks for the inspiration.

    I bet that as long as it’s a healthy snack before bed and not a junky one, that you should be fine. It’s a general suggestion not to eat before bed because you don’t have the opportunity to burn off as much when you are sleeping, but your body doesn’t shut down digestion! You will still burn some of those calories off naturally. There is definitely a huge difference between an apple and a pint of Ben and Jerry’s! I have to snack more often than some of my friends do. I just naturally need more energy to get through my day. So I stick to high fiber fruits, or some of her suggestions that combine fiber and a protein.

    I’m wanting to do this, but am already on a 1200 calorie/day diet with a fairly good rhythm/routine with the kinds of foods I’m eating (I’m a breakfast smoothie, grapefruit and apple cider, whole food kind of girl anyway). I tend to eat similarly to what’s outlined, and am happy to stay away from the “”off limits,”” but does anyone who’s completed the program/is in the middle of it eat outside of what’s been instructed above? I’m already on a gluten-free, dairy-free, meat-free diet (pesvo/ovo vegetarian) which rules out a lot of the food you’ve recommended as off limits.       Goals are awesome!! I am a great proponent of healthy living, but from personal experience, the scale isn’t always a great tell. Make sure you’re not just trying to make the numbers go down but also seeing the difference! Weight gain could just mean you are building lean muscle!

            that is underweight. I am 5’6 and once weighed 98 pounds and I was at extreme risks for many health problems–not to mention I loss tons of muscle mass. I also got headaches often and I did not “fill out” my facial bone structure.

            Yes darling, that is quite underweight. I’m 5’7″ and weight 145 which still has my doctor saying I’m on the low-end of the spectrum for healthy weight. You may want to ask your doctor about it just to get their opinion.

    Try doing lemon squeezers, they’ll shape you up in no time! Sit with your legs and torso off the ground (so they make a 90 degree angle), and stick out your arms horizontally. Then, like squeezing a lemon, squeeze your torso and legs together. You could do this without using your arms, but they do help you stay in the right form. Just a quick note, I’m in pretty good shape, and I can barely do 5 of these, so just make sure you start small!!!

      Hi Caroline! Dropping weight “fast” never really works – nor do crazy fad diets and work out plans! Try to make an effort everyday to eat more vegetables and less processed food and sugars. Try to go for a brisk walk or a run after school each day. You may not see results for a few weeks – don’t get discouraged!!! Stick with it and you will not only start to lose weight, you will feel great. All good things in life take time!
