Fit Tip: Surviving the Snack Attack

When it comes to snacks, most people think, “Chips! Cookies! Oh goody–pudding cups!” No. That’s what I call a “snack attack.” Snacks are not meant to be mini-meals. They are supposed to tide you over until your next meal. The silver lining? They can actually help you achieve a slimmer shape. Snacks prevent overeating come mealtime. I honestly snack all day long. It helps me stay satisfied. (Don’t you always make the worst diet decisions when you’re famished? I do.) Needless to say, instead of starving yourself between each meal, have a nutritious snack. It will help get your metabolism pumping and your body burning calories too.

Instead of those chips and pre-made snack packs, opt for one of my favorite healthy snack suggestions:

Grapes & Grahams: Take one graham cracker and split it into two squares. Spread each square with a light layer of cream cheese. Then sprinkle eight halved grapes over the top. It sounds strange, but it’s so delicious!

Pear/Apple & String Cheese: To curb your sugar cravings, have a piece of fruit with a side of cheesy protein (my favorite type of protein). Cheese is packed with calcium and according to good old Everyday Health, calcium “can help adjust your body’s fat-burning machinery.”?

Greek Yogurt: Have a cup of Greek yogurt. If it’s plain, drizzle a little agave nectar over it and top it off with a few berries or slivered almonds. Greek yogurt is packed with protein, which will keep you feeling full. Plus it has a lot of calcium too!

Hummus & Veggies: This is my favorite snack. The hummus is made from chickpeas, which is rich in protein and fiber. It’s low fat and filling. Perfection!

    great ideas. my quick go to is cinnamon applesauce in a cup. but i usually mix my favorite fruits or veggies with either peanut butter or hummus, and eat a cheese stick or wheat thins with sliced cheese. always looking for more ideas :)

    Great ideas. One I love (and I know this will sound really weird) but apples with a bit of salt on them. It works best with the Golden delicious type. You get the sweet of the apple and the tangy of the salt. And if you are craving chips or another salty treat, it’s a nice substitute.

    Fruit (of any kind) is my top choice for healthy snack. This is my favorite fruit combination.

    You can find the detail of how I made it over here:

    Study believes that soursop can prevent cancer; and the leave is an alternative for cancer cure. It’s rich in vitamin C, B1, and B12. All of the fruits I use are available in where I live. If nata de coco is not available, you can substitute it with jelly or anything sweet. The idea is to combine fruits that are sour and sweet because it makes a great refreshment and healthy snack.

    Freeze whole bananas for a few hours and then mush them up with a few melted chocolate chips or a dollop of peanut butter! It tastes like ice cream its delicious!

    Love the ideas! :) Being a vegan, those pre-packed snack packs are usually not suitable for me anyway. So I just love all kinds of non fat crackers and veggies with hummus… it’s just soooo delicious and filling! Also love the greek yoghourt & fruit idea. Thank God for soy yoghourt :)

    Apple rings! Apparently you just slice them up, sprinkle with cinamon and bake in the oven at low heat for about 15 minutes. Then let them rest for 12 hours, and they can last a long time in a jar.

    tip: cinammon cuts sugar cravings, so by putting that on let’s say your coffee, yogurt, or fruit you’ll want to snack less too!

    Nice healthy snacks. Here are some of my ideas:

    1: Carrots with a honey mustard dipsauce

    2: Apple pieces with cinammon

    3: Make your own icecreams by mixing greek yoghurt with banana or other fruit together. (this is SO good and simple to make)

    4: Make a corn ear warm and put a spoon honey on top. (delicious)

    5: A ricecracker with sugarfree, natural jelly.

    6. Dried fruit, like apricot. (But don’t eat to much of that.)

    Hummus and Veggies are my favorite. Being Gluten Free it’s hard to find yummy snacks. I always go for apples and vaggies. THE BEST DEAL EVER… at panda express get a side of veggies and white rice for 2.25. AAlthough, It’s not super healthy veggies, they are still crisp so they have all the nutrients.

    I’m doing Celebrity Slim atm, so all my snacks are mainly fruit/veggies! I love tzatsiki with crudites, or natural/greek yogurt with berries (blueberries, raspberries, whatever…!). Also filling a lettuce leaves is a nice snack – I love ricotta and smoked salmon, or parma ham and tomato; but the possibilities are endless and you can go wild with creations!

    Greek yogrut is so yummy!! Did you know that you can substitute the butter you use in baking cookies with greek yogrut. Greek yougrut is a great way to substitute butter out in baking and the best part is that it adds more nutrients to your sweets and lowers the calories 😉

    you know those delicous snack dips? Where you use the sour cream with GREEK YOGURT (plain) and dip in your vegetables! Delicious and packed with protein to hold you over. Another one: Tuna (in WATER) with mustard (NOT MAYO), cut-up pickles, cucumbers, carrots, basically anything you want. Carry it around, you’ll always feel satisfied.
